Reporting to: Senior Director of Marketing & Communications

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement PR campaigns for Hong Kong exhibitions and programs for national media and media in wider Asia
• Draft all communications materials including press releases, interviews, quotes and briefings where appropriate
• Translate texts into Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English, as required
• Oversee logistics for press previews
• Monitor Chinese press coverage and maintain Asia press contacts database
• Prepare press images, captions and information
• Coordinate journalist visits, photographers and film crews

• Develop content related to Hong Kong and oversee uploading, editing and subtitling process
• Contribute towards audience development initiatives in Asia with creative ideas for expanding our audience and digital reach
• Produce regular reports on our digital audience development initiatives in Asia
• Manage and grow the gallery’s WeChat / Weibo / Zaiyi / Tencent accounts, including planning and scheduling posts with global digital team, collating assets, writing / translating copy, posting, monitoring analytics

• Oversee the design and production of project marketing and sales materials
• Input on local advertising planning
• Distribute marketing materials to promote public events, including engagement with schools, colleges and other target groups
• Act as coordinator for photographers and AV-crews documenting HK events

Writing / editing / translating
• Translate and copyedit texts in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English, as required
• Write ad hoc texts in Chinese including Chinese advert copy
• Proofread Chinese marketing materials, including adverts, emailers and web copy

Personal specification:
We are looking for a driven, flexible, creative and hands-on person who enjoys working in a team within a fast-paced and dynamic environment and has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role. Meticulous attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
• Educated to degree level, preferably in arts or humanities subject (BA required)
• Good working proficiency in Mandarin and English essential, Cantonese desirable
• Excellent written skills in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English all essential
• Excellent communication skills, as well as analytical organisational and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated skill in writing about art and exhibitions
• Excellent skills in Adobe CS5, particularly Photoshop and InDesign (essential), working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Mac OSX
• Experience of working in an international company is preferred
• Experience at a PR agency is desired
