About the Royal Academy of Arts

The Royal Academy of Arts is one of the UK’s foremost arts institutions and our vision is to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists. It is a particularly exciting time in our history. We have embarked upon a series of major investments that will transform our physical and digital infrastructure and our public offer, to be delivered in time for our 250th anniversary next year. An ambitious ‘Masterplan’ by David Chipperfield RA will redevelop our 2.5-acre campus in Mayfair, uniting our two buildings and providing refurbished galleries for the display of art and architecture, a state-of-the-art auditorium, a new learning centre and a dedicated Collections gallery in Burlington Gardens, and enabling greater public visibility of the art school at the heart of the Academy.

Development at the Royal Academy of Arts

The Development Department plays a vital role in the success and growth of the Royal Academy of Arts as a dynamic and independent institution. With no funding from the public purse, we are very reliant on our Development team to secure major funding, typically in excess of £15m in annual revenue funding, as well as significant capital requirements through an innovative and subtle approach to fundraising.

With an expanded programme of world-class exhibitions, projects and events, you will help lead on new business strategy and take ownership of the development of the new business pipeline for all upcoming exhibitions.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to bring an authoritative, energetic and pro-active approach to cultivation, with innovative new ideas for the creation of compelling sponsorship value propositions to take to market.

Assured, fluent and persuasive, with strong business development experience, you will be comfortable speaking to key decision makers within corporate entities, and adept at forging long-lasting relationships.

About you

You will have 5 years’ experience in relevant industries and sales development roles, and are likely to have gained your professional experience in a marketing/sponsorship agency or consultancy background.

You will have experience in developing and leading an arts and culture sponsorship strategy.

Articulate and well-presented, you will use your first-class communication skills to create and present strong pitches and sophisticated marketing collateral, tailored to the needs of the client but sensitive to the RA’s ethos.
