Expired Vacancy
Acquisitions Manager

Deadline: 30 September 2018

Please note that this vacancy has expired and you can no longer apply.

Tate is committed to acquiring artworks of the highest quality to share with the public, through a combination of bequests, purchases, gifts and works allocated by the Government in lieu of tax. In this role you will provide efficient, effective management and co-ordination of the acquisition process for new works of art entering the Tate Collection, from initial proposals through to accessioning. Your responsibility will be ensuring a smooth process, from the organisation of initial liaison with Directors of Collections and the commissioning of documentation, through to managing budgets and arranging meetings to discuss and action acquisitions.

A proven project manager with strong experience of process management within a complex organisation, you’ll demonstrate the ability to influence and inspire others at all levels. You’ll write with clarity and accuracy, demonstrating the ability to analyse issues within a wider strategic context. Highly computer literate, creative in approach and communicative by nature, you’ll demonstrate an understanding of art and a commitment to our continuing work in growing Tate’s collection. Familiarity with legal and copyright issues related to the acquisition of works of art would be desirable.

This appointment is offered on a temporary contract of up to 12 months covering maternity leave.
