Business Development Executive

We are hiring for a Business Development Executive to work with an art research company in London. Our client operates internationally to provide scientific testing and research to collectors, museums, galleries and auction houses.

The successful candidate will be an essential, strategic component of the London team. Focusing on and responsible for clients, accounts and programs in the United Kingdom and London in particular, with some international clients.

Role Specification:

  • Building the outbound sales pipeline by identifying, engaging, developing, and educating customers and intermediaries about the Company’s offerings.
  • Preparing proposals and submitting to clients to close business timely.
  • Achieving sales pipeline goals.
  • Identifying, analysing, pursuing, closing and reporting on business development opportunities with prospective clients.
  • Developing, preparing, and delivering sales presentations from one-to-one to one-to-many environments.
  • Attending art fairs, conferences, seminars, networking events and other industry events as a representative of the company.
  • Using and keeping up to date the Company’s Customer Relationship Management system (Pipedrive).
  • Managing and qualifying leads from emails, phone calls, referrals (internal and external) and other forms of inquiry.
  • Continuously developing and expanding an extensive set of relationships across industry categories.
  • Representing the company at industry and networking events.
  • Coordinating and hosting customer/clients visits as required.
  • Coordinating and supporting colleagues and initiatives in the New York, Continental Europe, and corporate offices (US).

Person specification:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in the art market.
  • At least two years of customer facing experience.
  • Strong and current network in the art market.
  • Proven track record achieving measurable monthly targets.
  • Self-motivated, driven individual who can proactively plan and execute initiatives.
  • Action-oriented, driven towards results.
  • Excellent communicator with exceptional presentation skills who is able to effectively educate customers about the company and its products.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Motivated to take on greater responsibility and contribute to the overall goals of the company.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Well versed in Linkedin, Instagram and other social media as well as CRM tools.
  • Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software packages, including Teams and OneNotes.
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an asset.
  • An Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Art Business, Art Conservation, or equivalent. A background in business (i.e. Auction House) is preferred.


Flexible salary starting at £50,000 plus a package of commission, bonus, and stock options.
