Role Overview;

Partner with the UK Chairman to develop and deliver the strategy and relevant campaigns for the UK Chairman’s Office.

1. Strategy Setting & Business Planning  

  • Work with UK Chairman to drive the strategy and development for the UK Chairman’s Office and its People Plan
  • Work with the President, EMERI and Business Director for specific regional business plans including but not limited to finance, HR, commercial process
  • Manage the implementation of the strategy for the UK Chairman’s Office, Consultants and Regional Representatives in alignment with global, departmental and regional delivery
  • Partner with UK Chairman, Client Strategy and other relevant participants to ensure the UK Chairman’s Office is maximising its potential in terms of client coverage and business development globally
  • Ensure local plans comply and align with cross business departmental and regional activities in collaboration with the Business Director

2. Implementation    

  • Play an active role in management decision making for the UK Chairman’s Office
  • Ensure the members of the UK Chairman’s Office, Consultants and Regional Representatives have realistic and measurable targets to help develop UK client coverage
  • Manage the effective and successful delivery of these targets
  • Work closely with EAV to maximise business opportunities – both for the immediate and longer term
  • Liaise with Client Strategy to identify opportunities, flag clients for review and populate guest lists as appropriate
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Client Strategy and attend the Client Engagement Forum to ensure the proposed engagement and budget allocations reflect the strategy of the UK Chairman’s Office and the region

3. Client Management and Campaigns

  • Support UK Chairman and wider team members to drive business getting activities
  • Focus on the process of winning works of art for sale at auction and private sale
  • Support successful management of client relationships and strategic opportunities
  • Collaborate with relevant colleagues in Client Management and Auction Departments on the development of proposals and other materials in relation to winning business
  • Drive the UK Business Forum
  • Represent the UK Chairman’s Office at IBF as required
  • Plan and develop curated sales when opportunities are identified

4. Leadership    

  • Recruit, train and manage junior staff members, including conducting performance management activities
  • Ensure performance review activities are completed and that staff have clear objectives and development plans
  • Provide input to the talent management process highlighting development needs
  • Engender cross Business Group and global collaboration

  • Financial acumen and experience of formulating, implementing, and managing budgets
  • Strong and proven strategic vision and commercial awareness
  • Agile & creative thinker, Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence at all levels and internationally (specifically Asia, Europe and Americas)

  • Understanding of the Auction Business strongly preferred
  • Appreciation/understanding of Art an advantage
  • Ability to create and analyze Excel spreadsheets, bar graphs, reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to learn Christie’s systems including COS, Property System, intranet and website
