Tate aims to be the most artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive global art museum. At the heart of Tate is our collection of art, which includes British art from the 16th century to the present day, and international modern art from 1900 to the present day. Tate Britain’s Curatorial Department is responsible for researching and building Tate’s collection of British art and developing a dynamic programme of changing displays and exhibitions to reflect, promote and embody Tate Britain’s role as the world centre for the study and enjoyment of British art from 1200 to the present day. The registrar team within the Curatorial Department is responsible for the management and co-ordination of artworks loaned to Tate Britain’s temporary displays and exhibitions and international tours.
You will have substantial experience of managing loans, arranging transport and insurance for temporary exhibitions, liaising effectively with colleagues and external contacts within a gallery/museum or similar environment. You’ll need experience of arranging Government Indemnity and commercial fine art insurance, with extensive experience of international fine art transportation, museum standards and experience of negotiating loans and associated contracts.
You’ll have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst being flexible and providing creative solutions to problems. It’s vital that you’re an impeccable organiser with the excellent communication, team working and brilliant diplomatic skills needed to carry out difficult loan negotiations. You’ll also have good attention to detail with the ability to work confidently with budgets.
