Import & Compliance Coordinator – Art Transport, Operations

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our Art Transport team, previous shipping/compliance experience is not essential. Once trained the candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of international shipping related compliance procedures. The Import & Compliance Coordinator embodies exceptional client service, has exemplary attention to detail and ability to multi task under pressure.

Art Transport is an integral part of the UK Operations and supports both internal and external clients through facilitating the movement of pre and post-sale items.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide exceptional levels of client service to internal and external clients, adhering to Christie’s Client Service Standards and core values
  • Issue customs clearance instructions for inbound shipments and arrange deliveries to Christies sites
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in full compliance with all local and international regulations
  • Advise technical shipping expertise to internal and external clients
  • Carry out a compliance check for each Christie’s Sale
  • Process shipping charges and ensure suppliers are paid in a timely manner
  • Check customs clearance documents match Christie’s instructions and file records
  • Work with VAT and Business Support department to answer queries
  • Ensure all emails, shipment records and documents are filed appropriately for audit purposes
  • Liaise closely with other internal art and operations departments to build a strong awareness of overall business activities
  • Work closely with Christie’s freight partner(s) and internal departments to ensure correct information is coordinated
  • Proactively manage issues and escalate to Supervisor as and when required
  • Respond to emails / telephone calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
