Intern – Estates, Appraisals & Valuations

To support the King Street Estates, Appraisals & Valuations team in the production of valuations and support the day to day running of the department. The successful candidate should have a genuine interest in valuations and excellent attention to detail. Working on multiple projects at once and frequently delivering to tight deadlines, this role will require strong time management skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Valuation production: 

  • Typing, correcting and proofing valuations, in line with Christie’s cataloguing standards; taking responsibility for the final work before it is handed to the Account Managers or Specialists
  • Sourcing, cropping and adding images to valuations
  • Using Excel to build preliminary valuations spreadsheets and importing data into the valuation system (CAMS)
  • Cross referencing valuation and client information between various documents and checking estimates with Specialists on behalf of Valuers
  • Printing and binding valuations; organising sign-off by the valuation panel when required
  • Entering and updating valuation data in the electronic project management database
  • Ensuring that the valuation procedures are followed for the relevant valuation types in terms of risk management and record keeping

General support for the Department: 

  • Running errands, distributing valuations and documents internally, collecting and distributing post twice daily and arranging or going on local London deliveries
  • Providing basic administrative support for Account Managers and Valuers, such as arranging deliveries, providing technical support and doing research as required
  • Answering office phones and taking messages/transferring calls and dealing with estimate requests by email or post
  • Taking on specific tasks in the day to day running of the department, e.g. keeping the stationary cupboard stocked, being the primary liaison for printer suppliers/technicians, etc.
  • Managing the workload given to work-experience students
  • Other adhoc administrative duties and projects, as assigned by Business Coordinator

Candidate skills & attributes:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience with knowledge of Fine and Applied Arts
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Ability to prioritise, manage time effectively and work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Quick to learn and implement
  • Flexible and diplomatic team player with initiative
  • Exceptional attention to detail with good writing skills, including excellent grammar (for proofing)
  • Knowledge of at least one European language preferred.
