Senior Client Strategy Analyst/Client Strategy Manager

The role will support three different departments in EMERI: IMP/MOD (60%), MTB (35%), Prints (5%). Closely supported by the EMERI cluster analyst, the post holder will be responsible for managing any client strategy activity relating to the Impressionist & Modern Day & Works on Paper sales as well as the Modern British art sales in London.

They will also be managing any London Impressionist & Modern, Modern British and Prints events (both at a top and core level) and supervise the work performed by the EMERI analyst in support of the London Prints and Online sales.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:



  • Coordinate and support the sourcing efforts of the IMP/MOD Day/WOP and MTB team, by helping to identify potential consignors for sales using Christie’s systems, especially Object Finder.
  • Provide bespoke information to the Proposals team as required to support IMP/MOD DAY/WOP, MTB and PRT pitches


  • Identify potential buyers for the IMP/MOD DAY/WOP, MTB and PRT sales by researching comparable past lots using Christie’s systems
  • Manage the bi-annual MTB review of Long-Term Business Opportunities
  • Send emails to relevant Client Team Leaders (CTLs) to ensure potential buyers are alerted to relevant lots
  • Manage the MTB Evening sale interest list
  • Work closely with the administrative team to monitor interest for the IMP/MOD DAY/WOP sales as well as the MTB Day & Mid-Season and PRT sales; proactively perform additional targeting as the sale unfolds, e.g. noting which lots are quiet
  • Oversee and review bespoke catalogue distribution lists for IMP/MOD Day/WOP, MTB and PRT and regularly review said lists to ensure maximum efficacy


  • Arrange and run post-sale debriefs for the IMP/MOD Day/WOP sales, MTB Evening, Day and Mid-Season and PRT auctions, including follow-up, tracking and recording of action points and deliverables for Specialists
  • Track activity of specific IMP/MOD DAY/WOP, MTB, PRT clients new to the category; partner with Specialists and Client Advisory to devise and drive a strategy for each; prepare the required material for the New Buyer Forum
  • Research clients whom we lost DAY/WOP/MTB business from and devise a strategy around them to maximise future business opportunities


  • Attend the IMP/MOD and MTB Evening sales both at Christie’s and at competitors and coordinate spotting
  • Prepare the MTB competitive report


  • Pull and manage guest lists for all events hosted by/associated with the LDN IMP/MOD, MTB and PRT departments as required, utilising all central research tools
  • Analyse metrics to track effectiveness/success of events and conduct event debriefs to identify future opportunities


  • Actively encourage DAY/WOP, MTB and PRT specialists to feedback information gathered from client visits to enrich data in COS and ensure opportunities are followed up on
  • Plan and conduct the annual CTL/Team reviews with the DAY/WOP, MTB and PRT specialists, capture all relevant intel on COS, distribute and follow up on any resulting action points
  • Conduct the annual MTB Big Cap Review and track action points


  • Assist the IMP/MOD Client Strategy Manager with preparing and running the IMP/MOD Evening sale debriefs, incl. the competitor report, when needed
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the IMP/MOD Client Strategy Director and Manager as requested


  • Ensure that all client information is logged and updated in COS and other systems where appropriate


  • At least 2 years’ work experience in a commercial environment, particularly working with data
  • Advanced user of Excel, Power Point and Christie’s systems
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Substantial experience of manipulating and analysing data in a commercial environment
  • Solid understanding of the auction process
  • Enthusiastic approach and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to prioritise, meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple long- and short-term projects
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative, as well as in a team
  • Excellent communicator, verbal and written
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with diplomacy


  • At least 1 year’s work experience as a Client Strategy Analyst in an auction house
  • Appreciation and understanding of the IMP/MOD and MTB industries and markets
  • Bachelor’s degree (as a minimum) in a relevant subject
  • Fluency in additional languages to English an advantage
