Tate Library is part of the world’s largest repository of British art from 1500 and international art from 1900. The Library Collections are housed in the Hyman Kreitman Reading Rooms and Stores at Tate Britain, and the Library team provide services across all Tate sites.

A unique opportunity has arisen to lead on the selection, acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, preservation and access programme relating to all Tate Library collections, with a focus on British art. You will also manage the day to day running of Tate’s Library and Archive Reading Rooms, which are an international centre of excellence for art historical research.

You will have a professional qualification in Library and Information Studies and will play a leading role in developing bibliographic services, with a focus on cataloguing standards. You will have excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively in partnership with colleagues and researchers in different specialist fields.

You will be joining a small, enthusiastic and friendly team of Librarians, all of whom participate in the delivery of research services to Tate staff and external researchers in the Reading Rooms at Tate Britain. You will, therefore, have good communication and interpersonal skills with experience of delivering excellent customer service.

This appointment is offered on a temporary contract of up to 10 months covering maternity leave
