Following a major project, the extended Tate St Ives opened to the public in the autumn of 2017 with brand new gallery spaces, a dedicated Learning area and new displays. With these new galleries, our aim is to enable all our visitors to fully explore, experience and enjoy every moment of their visit to new Tate St Ives.
In this part-time role you will recruit, train, and support over 60 volunteers within our Learning and Visitor Experience teams. You will champion the role of volunteers within the organisation and complete the Heritage Lottery Funded Legacy Project in the St Ives Modernists Resource Room and Reception area.
Seeing Tate through our visitors’ eyes, you’ll work with the Visitor Experience Mangers to develop volunteer roles that consider our audiences’ diverse needs and ensure that the visitor experience is at the heart of everything we do.
Proactively developing contacts across the community and relevant organisations, you’ll promote opportunities for groups with particular skills. You’ll also take responsibility for related administration – from coordinating training programmes and volunteer rotas, to updating records and authorising expense claims.
To join us, you’ll need proven experience of recruiting, selecting and managing groups of volunteers, and of devising and running training programmes. A real ‘people person’, you have a demonstrable ability to motivate diverse teams and create an environment in which people can flourish. Naturally, you will be highly organised, with written communication skills that equal your flair for engaging, collaborating and influencing people face-to-face.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2019.
